Tehran (Iran) – A young budding Indian badminton player Tanya Hemanth clinched the women’s singles title at the 31st Iran Fajr International Challenge badminton tournament in Tehran. She was compelled to wear the hijab while receiving the gold medal. The organisers said, ‘We had made it clear earlier that all those women receiving medals will have to wear the hijab’. Men were not allowed to see the women’s matches.

There was a board at the entrance stating ‘Men are not permitted here’.
