Kolhapur (Maharashtra) – A team of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday carried out simultaneous searches at the residences of former Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) minister and Nationalist Congress Party leader Hasan Mushrif, his close aide Prakash Gadekar on 11^th January morning. Similar searches were also carried out on his aide Chandrakant Gayakwad’s office in Pune. The ED action came against the backdrop of allegations of corruption and irregularities in the functioning of the sugar factory. The BJP leader Kirit Somaiya had accused him of conducting a scam of crores of rupees in 2019. Hundreds of Mushrif supporters gathered outside his house, shouting slogans against the BJP-led Central Government.

While addressing the media, Mushrif said, ‘My son-in-law has nothing to do with BRICS India Private Limited. I don’t know why this raid was carried out. This may be for political reasons. I have a doubt if this has been for targeting a specific community.”
