Karnataka Govt to set up an independent board to monitor madarsas in the State

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – The BJP Government in Karnataka is in the process of setting up a board to monitor madarsas in the State. Last week, the Government had ordered all educational institutions to make singing the national anthem mandatory. It did not include madarsas. The Government is thinking of setting up a board to bring the madarsas under this ambit as well. There are 900 madarsas registered with the Karnataka Waqf Board. Each of them is given ₹10 lakh annually by the board.
