Incident at the famous Banke Bihari temple of Mathura on the occasion of Shrikrushna Janmashtami
Mathura (Uttar Pradesh) – On the night of 19th August 2022, there was a huge gathering of devotees at Banke Bihari temple in the background of Shrikrushna Janmashtami and two devotees died due to suffocation in the crowd. As per the information given by devotees present at the scene, the crowd was so huge that more than 50 people fell unconscious during the ‘Mangla Aarti’.

Abhishek Yadav, a senior Superintendent of Police, said that the incident occurred due to an increasing crowd. Nirmala Devi, a resident of Noida and Ramprasad Vishwakarma, a 65-year-old resident from Jabalpur were the two victims. The unconscious devotees were admitted to a nearby hospital by the Police and treatment was still going on for around 6 of them.
