Women given honour in Scriptures like Manusmruti : Justice Pratibha Singh

Mumbai – Indian women are fortunate because the Scriptures like Manusmruti has given them a seat of honour. It is stated in Manusmruti that, if anybody did not honour women then whatever worship, reciting stotras, offering prayers, etc. they perform have no significance, stated Justice Pratibha Singh here. She was addressing the gathering during the inaugural session of the conference held on the topic ‘Challenges before women in the fields of Science and technology, Industries and Mathematics organised by ‘Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry’.

She said further that,

1. As far as respecting women is concerned then women are respected at home, in society or at the workplace in Asia. This happens due to Indian religious and cultural background and also being prescribed in Scriptures.

2. India is more forward with regard to leadership quality among women. We cannot ignore the atrocities meted out to women in lower strata; though women in the middle and higher class are progressing.

3. Working women should conserve the values required to maintain the family system, living in a joint family for their own bright future is also essential. Women living in joint families get assistance and support for acquiring a bright future.

Editorial viewpoint
