The prompt steps by Sri Lankan government to counter jihadi terrorism are commendable
Colombo (Sri Lanka) – The Sri Lankan government has banned 9 jihadi organisations including the Islamic State (ISIS) and Al Qaeda. This comes in the wake of the horrifying 2019 suicide attacks that killed 270 people in which Sri Lankan homegrown Jihadi group National Thowheeth Jamaath (NTJ) was involved. After this, former Sri Lankan president Maithripala Sirisena set up a committee to recommend a ban on this organization.
Sri Lanka will ban 11 Islamic radical organisations, including the Islamic State (ISIS) and Al Qaeda, for their links to extremist activities, according to an official announcement https://t.co/hD5umv5mz1
