Why does a Shankaracharya have to tell this? Why do the government and administration fail to understand this ?

Jabalpur (MP) – Dwaraka and Jyotishpeeth Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati stated that, ‘various tributaries of Narmada carrying sewage directly mix into the main river. It is essential to stop this. Having sewage being pumped into rivers is fatal for the nation.’ The Shakaracharya has raised an objection to the construction of a dam on the river Narmada. He said, “dams cause the water level to go down and increase in the heat. This may lead to earthquakes.” (There will be no dams but the reservoirs and lakes in Hindu Rashtra !- Editor)  

The Shakaracharya added,

1. Drain water of Hiran river is mixing with the water of Narmada. No measures are being taken to stop the drainage from mixing into the river. The government as well as the local administration should understand their responsibility. We consider Narmada as mother and every person deeply respects Her.
2. As the population increases the number of drains are also increasing which are directly discharging sewage into the rivers. Treatment plants should be built to prevent this. If water is polluted how will the person get life and good food? It is the responsibility of every individual to keep the rivers clean.

Will discuss the matter with the CM again !

I had earlier told the Chief Minister that the sewage gets discharged into the Narmada river. He had then asked the collector to set up a treatment plant. However after that no action was taken in this direction. It is a serious matter. I will discuss this matter with the CM again.
