WhatsApp will continue to run normally after 8th Feb!

New Delhi – WhatsApp announced changes to its ‘terms of service’ on 4th January which were to come into effect on 8th February, 2021. According to the new terms, users failing to accept new policy would lose their WhatsApp account. WhatsApp issued a clarification about the new terms after facing heavy criticism from around the world, but in vain. Eventually, WhatsApp has taken a step back and delayed the implementation of the new policy.
Facebook-owned WhatsApp has said that,
- We are deferring the implementation of new service terms amid the misinformation that has concerned our users. We are suspending the deadline initially set to review and accept the new terms. No one will have their account suspended or deleted on 8th Feb. We are going to work more on clearing up the misinformation around how privacy and security works on WhatsApp.
- We will go to people gradually to review the policy at their own pace before new business options are available on May 15. We never intended to suspend or delete the user accounts based on these terms, hence the WhatsApp users should rest assured.
