Many shops and eateries in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, named after Hindu Deities’ are owned by Muslims

Muslim business owners engage in ‘Name Jihad’

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) – If Muslims name their shops after Hindu deities during the Kanwar Yatra, many controversies may arise and many may object to it. Name it whatever you want, we don’t mind. Uttar Pradesh Minister Kapil Dev Aggarwal in a meeting a few days ago appealed that do not use the names of Deities. In this context, Zee News conducted a survey in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh states, revealing information about such shops and dhabas, which have been given the names of Hindu Deities, while their owners are Muslims.

1. In Uttarakhand, many shops and dhabas have been found with the name ‘Vaishnodevi,’ but the majority of these shops and dhabas are owned by Muslims.

2. In the course of their journey, Kanwar pilgrims visit these places for light snacks or meals. A separate arrangement has been made for the Kanwar pilgrims here, but the employees preparing the food are Muslims; however, Kanwar pilgrims are not aware of it.

3. When Zee News correspondent reached Dehradun-Nainital highway in Bijnor, he found more than 20 dhabas, where names of Hindu deities have been used. They are run by Muslims. Among these, ‘Shri Khatu Shyam Dhaba,’ ‘Neelkanth Family Restaurant,”Himalaya Dhaba,’ and ‘Shiv Dhaba’ are included in the list of establishments.

4. In Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, several dhabas have also been found to operate under the names of Hindu deities. Among them was a dhaba named ‘Janata Vaishno Dhaba’ owned by a Muslim, Muhammad Anas Siddiqui. When reporters from the media discussed with the dhaba’s owner, Muhammad Anas Siddiqui claimed, ” In the last 15 years, I have not faced any obstacles with this name.” This dhaba has also made special arrangements for travelers on the Kanwar pilgrimage route.

5. In Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, several Muslim-owned businesses have been operating under Hindu names, such as “Chaudhary Sweets.” These businesses have Hindu names so that Hindus buy from these shops. Not only Chaudhary name, but there are many stores in Bareilly that operate with Hindu names. These dhabas and shops have been in operation for many years, and while there have been Hindu names, the intention is to keep running their business.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Muslim business owners avoid using their own religious names for their shops and eateries, because Hindu customers will not visit them. This clearly indicates an attempt to deceive Hindus, known as ‘Name Jihad’. It is necessary for Hindus to oppose this through legal means !
  • In ‘Love Jihad’, Muslim youths conceal their identity by assuming Hindu names to attract Hindu girls into love relationships. This is a similar tactic. The government now needs to enact laws against such practices !
  • On one hand, fanatical Muslims look down upon Hindu deities, and on the other, they operate businesses using these very names for their own profit.
