Police Inspector sent on compulsory leave for filing a case against Muslims offering namaz on road

Mangaluru – A few religious fanatics offered namaz while squatting on the road near Kankanady mosque; therefore, Police registered a case against them. Police Inspector (PI), Somashekar, who took note of this illegal act and filed a case against the guilty, has been sent on compulsory leave, reportedly due to pressure from religious fanatics. (Please note that Police, who always bully Hindus, kowtow to religious fanatics – Editor).

The Police action drew widespread criticism. Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal of Mangaluru City stated that PI Somashekhar directly took action without consulting his senior officers. (Why permission is required for taking action as per the law ? It shows that the Police force has become a slave of religious fanatics and the Government – Editor).

Case also filed against VHP Chief Sharan Pumpwell

Sharan Pumpwell, a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader, warned on social media that Bajrang Dal would take action if namaz is offered on the roads again; therefore, a case has been filed against him. (Police are punishing an innocent and letting go of the culprits – Editor). Mr Pumpwell later warned of staging agitations across the State.

Police submit a new report to the Court, absolving people offering namaz on the road

A few religious fanatics were sitting on the road in front of Kankanady mosque offering namaz and blocking the road for traffic. Other people were quietly passing by since prayers were going on. Even vehicles were diverting to another road when the namaz was going on, according to the report submitted by the Police in the Court, absolving the accused. Under Sections 341, 283, 143, and 149 of Indian Penal Code, the Police registered a case for offering ‘namaz’ on the road. It was, however, opposed by Muslims and the chief of Congress’ Minority Department. As a result, the Police submitted a revised report.
