200 senior employees of ‘Air India Express’ on leave citing ‘illness’

New Delhi – 200 senior employees of Air India Express have gone on vacation together. All of them have given illness as the reason for their leave. As a result, more than 80 flights of the company stand cancelled. The crisis at the Tata Group’s Airline has affected the major cities such as Kochi, Calicut and Bengaluru.

1. Passengers affected by the cancellation of flights will either get a full refund or can reschedule their flight time and date with no additional charges, the company said.

2. On the other hand, according to the news agency PTI, some employees are protesting mismanagement and discriminatory treatment of employees; hence they had taken leave citing illness.

3. The report further said that ever since the merger process of Air India Express with ‘AIX Connect’ started, there has been growing dissatisfaction among the employees.

4. A year and a half ago, Tata Sons bought the entire shares of Air Asia India. The airline’s name was then changed to ‘AIX Connect’ before merging with ‘Air India Express’. It last flew under ‘Air Asia India’ on 31st October 2023 and now operates flights for ‘Air India Express’.
