Tipu Sultan is not given importance because he was a Muslim – Actor Ahimsa Chetan

“Tipu Sultan is a significant historical personality. Tipu Sultan is not being recognised as he was born as a Muslim. Unfortunately, birth community is given more importance than societal contributions. MLA Yatnal says, ‘name toilet after Tipu’. Toilets can be cleaned but communal filth in Yatnal’s mind can never be cleaned”, said actor Ahimsa Chetan in a social media message. He also criticised that, “Kempegowda, a marginal historic figure (Kempegowda , a chieftain under the Vijayanagara Empire, founded Bengaluru in 1537) is now a major KA icon because of feudal caste lobbies but Tipu Sultan is a historic juggernaut whose Muslim birth has impeded his present-day recognition”.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Is this acceptable to the Hindus of Karnataka who voted for the Congress and put it in power ?
  • Tipu Sultan was a Muslim and he converted 1 lakh Hindus in a single day, killed thousands of Hindus, and demolished Hindu temples. This is why Hindus have resisted doing anything in his name and will continue to do so.
