New Delhi – Director-General of the Archaeological Survey of India and Senior Archeologist BB Lal passed away on 10th September at the age of 101. His excavation at the Ramjanmabhoomi site in Ayodhya proved the existence of an ancient temple at the site. BB Lal was felicitated by the Padma Vibhushan award.
In the passing of Prof BB Lal Ji, we have lost one of the brightest minds who has contributed significantly towards our archeological excavations & endeavours and trained archeologists for over 4 decades.

Lal was the Director-General of the Archaeological Survey of India between 1968 and 1972. He has studied deeply for the excavation at the places related to the Harappan civilization and Mahabharat. He has also successfully fulfilled different responsibilities given by UNESCO.
