Indian Govt issues notice to Wikipedia for referring to an Indian cricketer as pro-Khalistani

Arshdeep Singh

New Delhi – In the match played between India and Pakistan on the 4th of September 2022 in the Asia Cup tournament, Arshdeep Singh, a Sikh Indian player dropped a catch, and later, India lost that match. After this incident, Pakistani citizens talked about Arshdeep Singh on social media as he was a pro-Khalistani.

Wikipedia website also made viral similar information about him; therefore, India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has issued a notice to Wikipedia seeking an explanation for associating Arshdeep Singh with the Khalistan movement. A high-level committee of the Information and Technology Department will inquire into Wikipedia’s executives.
