Chennai – In response to a PIL about not allowing the entry of non-Hindus during the Kumbabishegam festival of Arulmighu Adikesava Perumal Thirukovil at Thiruvattar, the Madras HC said that those non-Hindus who have faith in the Deity cannot be prevented from entering the temple or offering prayers to the Deity. The petition was filed by C Soman as a Christian minister’s name was on the invitation to the Hindu festival.

The Court said, that the devotional songs of singer Yesudas, who is a born Christian, are played in the many temples. Hindus regularly visit Velankanni Church and Nagore Dargah in great numbers. it is difficult to identify the religion of a person during large religious festivals, so it is not possible to prohibit them from attending.
