1. Alo Rani had said that she was born in 1969 in Hoogly, Bengal. She said she had not renounced her Indian citizenship even after marrying a Bangladeshi national and was no longer living with him. She said, she has an Indian Passport, PAN and Aadhar card and also has property in India. The inquiry revealed that she was not born in India, but was registered on the voter list in 2012.
2. The Court ruled that passports, Aadhaar cards, voting cards and PAN cards are not proof of citizenship. Alo Rani was found with a Bangladeshi voting card. She is also married to a Bangladeshi citizen. Her mother and brother still live in Bangladesh. What she will do after leaving the post is not known. Dual citizenship does not apply in India. Therefore, she cannot be called an Indian citizen.

TMC giving candidature to a citizen of another nation would be treasonous. Action should be taken against such parties. |
