Contempt of Court order !
Varanasi (UP) – The Court has ordered a survey and videography of Shringar Gauri Temple and Gyanvapi Mosque. Accordingly, on 6th May, the Shringar Gauri Temple and its surroundings were surveyed and filmed by the Court Commissioner in the presence of advocates of the Muslim and Hindu petitioners. When the Court Commissioner and advocates went to conduct the rest of the survey on the afternoon of 7th May, a mob of Muslims present at the Gyanvapi Mosque protested. They did not allow the Commissioner and advocate to enter the mosque. Seeing a large number of Muslims, the administration and the Police did not try to intervene. So, the Commissioner and the advocates decided to return without surveying and filming. Advocates of the Hindu side, Vishnu Shankar Jain and H.H. (Adv.) Hari Shankar Jain, were present on this occasion. They will argue in this regard during the hearing to be held in the Court on 9th May. On 6th May too, Muslims outside the mosque had tried to oppose the survey. At that time, Hindus had also gathered in large numbers.

Advocates of the Muslim side wanted the same thing to happen ! – Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain
Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain told the media, ‘When we tried to enter the Gyanvapi Mosque for the survey, the Muslims who had come for the afternoon prayers were present. They were expected to leave after the prayers and no one was to be present during the survey; however, a large number of Muslims were present. They stopped us at the entrance of the mosque and did not allow to enter. At that time, even the advocates of the Muslim side did not try to persuade them. That’s what they expected, so they kept quiet. We will now inform the Court on 9th May’.

Judgement on the demand of Muslims to replace the Court Commissioner to take place on 9th May
The survey and videography of Shringar Gauri Temple and some parts of the premises was completed on 6th May. Earlier, the Muslim party had filed a petition in the Court demanding the removal of Court Commissioner alleging discrimination. After a hearing on 7th May, the Court said it would decide on 9th May regarding replacement of the Commissioner and asked to complete the survey and videography without giving an immediate verdict. Therefore, the rest of the survey and videography was to be done on 7th May; however, it could not happen due to opposition.
There is no order to shoot the inside of Gyanvapi Mosque ! – Claims of Muslims
Advocates for the Muslim side claimed that the Court’s order did not seek a survey of the interior of the Gyanvapi mosque.
Survey order violates the law – Asaduddin Owaisi
AIMIM President and MP Asaduddin Owaisi said the Court’s order to survey the Gyanvapi Mosque was a clear violation of the 1991 Religious Places Act. (If Owaisi thinks so, why doesn’t he challenge the order in the higher Court ? – Editor) The Court’s ruling paves the way for fresh violence and anti-Muslim sentiment, similar to the violence caused by the Rath Yatra in the 1980s and 1990s.
This order to survey Kashi’s Gyanvapi Masjid* is open violation of 1991 Places of Worship Act, which prohibits conversion of religious places. SC in Ayodhya judgement had said the Act protects “secular features of Indian polity which is 1 of basic features of Constitution”1/2 https://t.co/ed5yyS9ieL
