Fanatic organisation attacks a Hindu village in Bangladesh: 80 houses vandalised

Attack due to a alleged controversial facebook post

* Despite daily incidents of disrespect shown to Hindu Dharma, Deities, Holy texts, etc. through various means by religious fanatics, Hindus never take such steps nor do they take the law into their hands. However, the world over, fanatics take the law into their hands and engage in violence even at the slightest opposition to their religion. This is evident once again from the recent incident in Bangladesh.

* Objectionable post about Islam by Hindus through social media has been cited as a reason for the attacks on Hindus. Are such attacks a new form of jihad by the fanatics ?

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – Thousands of fanatics of an organisation Hefazat-e-Islam attacked a Hindu village Noagaon, in Shalla upazila of Sunamganj on 17th March and destroyed 80 houses of Hindus. On receiving this information, The Police force has been deployed in large numbers in the village.

 

  1. The incident happened after Hefazat-e-Islam’s Amir Allama Junaid Babunagari, Joint-Secretary General Mawlana Mufti Mamunul Haque and several other central leaders attended a conference at Derai upazila on 15th April. Enraged by Mawlana Mamunul Haque’s speech at the conference, a young Hindu man from Noagaon, Shalla upazila allegedly a reference to a alleged post saying it had criticesed hin.
  2. On the next day Hefazat local leaders in the area had already begun a protest on to oppose the post allegedly uploaded by a Hindu. Thereafter, on 17th March morning several thousand followers of Hefazat leader Mamunul Haque from Kashipur, Nachni, Chandipur and some other Muslim-populated villages gathered and attacked Noagaon village and vandalized the homes of the Hindus.
  3. According to the news reports by ‘Dhaka Tribune’, several Hindu families left the village to save their lives. After their departure, supporters of Hefazat-E-Islam organization robbed several houses in the village.
  4. Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen tweeted her opinion regarding this incident and also posted an image depicting the aggression by the fanatics.
