America backs Modi govt’s farm laws, criticises internet curbs

US President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Narendra Modi

New Delhi – America has voiced its support  the three farm laws passed by the Modi government. The Biden administration said that it welcomes steps that would improve the efficiency of India’s markets and attract greater private sector investment.

The statement released by the US State dept. said, “We recognise that peaceful protests are a hallmark of any thriving democracy and note that the Supreme Court of India has stated the same. We encourage that the differences between both parties be resolved through dialogue”.

Although the US has backed the farm laws, it said that the farmers should get access to internet. The govt. has blocked internet at the protest sites in and around Delhi including 7 districts of Haryana.
