Such ban has been imposed in many democratic countries of Europe, so why can it not be imposed in India ?
Berlin (Germany) – In Baden-Württemberg State of Germany, the Government has ordered a ban on wearing of burqas in Government schools. In addition to this, students wearing burqa will not be permitted an entry.
- Many German people say that it is appropriate to ban the wearing of the burqa in educational institutions, while some people are worried that it can lead to negative consequences in society.
- In February this year, a 16-year-old student was not allowed entry in the school due to wearing a hijab. When she challenged it in the court, the court rebuked the administration and gave judgement in favour of the student. In view of this, the state government has banned the wearing of burqa by making a law.
- In Schleswig-Holstein also, adjacent to Baden-Württemberg, there was an attempt to ban on wearing of the burqa in university and college; but the leftist Green Party there did not support it.
- In fact, a burqa is banned in some countries in Europe. These include Holland, France, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria and Denmark.
