London (Britain) – On the evening of 18th July, large-scale violence was carried out by refugees in the city of Leeds, Britain. The mob set ablaze the Police vehicles, public buses, and personal cars. Shops were also vandalised. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

1. Police officials stated that around 5 p.m. local time on 18th July, a crowd began to gather on Luxor Street in the Harehills area of Leeds. The situation quickly escalated as the mob became agitated, with children also present among them. The situation is now under control, but people are advised to stay indoors unless necessary.

2. Britain’s Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said, “I am shocked by this violence. I have sought a report on the matter from the local Police. This kind of violence has no place in Britain.”

What is the matter ?

Refugees from outside Britain reside in the Harehills area, and many of them are in poor financial condition. The British child-care system suspects that due to their financial struggles, these families are not able to properly take care of their children. The system intends to place these children in foster homes, but both the parents and children are resisting this move. When authorities attempted to take the children to foster homes, the people protested and resorted to violence.

Editorial Perspectives

  • This situation has arisen due to the large number of religious fanatic refugees in Britain. It is evident from this that Europe needs to urgently devise a strategy regarding refugees and think about the protection of their countries.
  • The Western countries who sermon India on violence by religious fanatics are now experiencing the same turmoil. Hope that they will now understand India’s plight.
