Only 2 Muslim pilgrimage sites included in the scheme : Owaisi’s hue and cry

Maharashtra Government’s ‘Chief Minister Pilgrimage Scheme’

Mumbai – After the State Government announced the ‘Chief Minister Pilgrimage Scheme’, there has been a hue and cry by AIMIM party chief Asaduddin Owaisi. He posted on X, ‘Except for 2 Muslim sites, a few Gurudwaras and Churches, the overwhelming majority of sites are Hindu pilgrimage sites. Is this not appeasement ? Is this not revdi ?’

Under this scheme, citizens above 60 years of age will be allowed to visit 66 pilgrimage sites in the country. The scheme is not applicable to income-tax payers or those with annual income above two and a half lakh rupees.

Editorial Perspectives

  • This is Hindustan. There are more temples than other religious places in the country and in the State. Also, Maharashtra is a Hindu majority State. Hence, it is natural to have more Hindu pilgrimages in the scheme
  • This shows no matter how many facilities are given to Muslims, they are never satisfied.
