Taj Mahal gets a notice from the Municipal Corporation to pay the bill of ₹2 crores !

Agra (UP) – The Agra Municipal Corporation has served notices on the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) asking it to pay property tax and water bills for the Taj Mahal. The property tax is around ₹1.50 lakh and the water tax is around ₹2 crore. Similarly, the administration has informed to pay the service tax of ₹5 crore for Agra Garh. These notices are for the financial year 2021-22 and 2022-2023. The Archaeological Department has been given a period of 15 days to pay the amount.

1. The Agra headquarters or Archaeological Department said that historical things, monuments, etc. are given concessions in the tax but the Municipal Corporation Officer said that many buildings have been given such notices. The one which is eligible to get a concession will surely get it.

2. The Agra Circle Officer of the Archaeological Department Archeologist Rajkumar Patel said that the Archaeological Department needs to take care of nearly 4 thousand monuments in the country. Previously, the Archaeological Department has never paid any such tax. The Taj Mahal being a national monument, need not pay any tax. According to the record, such notices have been received for the 1st time.
