Karnataka High Court orders to pay Rs 5 lakh compensation for arresting a wrong person

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – In a case of wrongful arrest of 56 years old Ningaraju N Karnataka High Court ordered that he be given Rs. 5 Lakh as compensation. In the year 2011 a case was filed against Raju NGN; this is not that individual.

The Court said It is surprising that the arrest was made without checking if the individual is the person against whom the complaint was made. This individual has been arrested without first checking and confirming his identity.
