The threat of terrorism being spread from Afghanistan to Kashmir : warns Russian Ambassador

Editorial comment

  • If Russia has such fears, then why it does not openly oppose the Taliban ?

Moscow (Russia) – Cooperating to work against terrorism is an important part of the dialogue between India and Russia at various levels. We want a comprehensive Government in Kabul. Russia is closely cooperating with India in countering the threat posed by terrorism in Afghanistan. The escalation of civil strife in Afghanistan will spread terrorism throughout the region. This could spread to Russia and Kashmir as well, said Russia's ambassador to India Nikolay Kudashev. He was speaking to reporters at the Russian embassy.

  1. Kudashev further stated that we need a comprehensive Government. We hope that the land of Afghanistan will not be a source of terrorism in other countries. So this anxiety is common. This is the subject of ongoing negotiations between Russia and India. We are facing this threat and will try to avoid it.
  2. Hasan Mahmud, the Information Minister of Bangladesh, who is on an official visit to India, said Bangladesh is keeping a close eye on developments in Afghanistan. Stability in Afghanistan is important for stability in the South Asian region. Talking about recognising any power established by the Taliban would be hasty at the moment, he said.
