Displacement of millions of people during Russia-Ukraine war

Geneva (Switzerland) – In 2022, 71.1 million people were displaced worldwide due to war, violence and natural disasters, according to a global report by the ‘Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre’. It has been reported that 2.5 million people have been displaced due to natural calamities in India. The report says the war between Ukraine and Russia has led to massive displacement. Compared to the year 2021, this ratio is more than 20%.

Pakistan, Nigeria and Brazil witnessed most displacement due to the floods. Drought caused displacement in Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia. Compared to the year 2021, the number of displaced people has increased by 40% in 2022.
