253 killed, 500 injured in blasts in Sri Lanka : ‘Islamic State’ claims responsibility

Jihadi terrorists have now targeted Sri Lanka and Christians. Earlier, Sri Lanka Government had killed 35,000 innocent Hindus after declaring LTTE as a terrorist organisation. It will be a matter of conjecture what action Sri Lanka Government will take against the jihadis.

The jihadi terrorists have been carrying out attacks in India for the past 3 decades. They have killed many Hindus by attacking temples, vandalised temples in Kashmir, forced 4.5 lakh Hindus into exile through threats. Yet, Hindus have been patient; they have not taken revenge. However, religious fanatics avenge the deaths of their brethren in another country within days of any incident. This proves who is intolerant in the true sense.

Colombo (Sri Lanka) – Sri Lanka has banned the use of Burqa for Muslim women in the country for security reasons. The ban came into effect immediately. Though the ban was opposed by some staunch Islamic religious leaders, most of the Muslim organisations supported the move in view of the bomb blasts.

The death toll in Sri Lanka has risen to 253 after a wave of blasts hit churches and luxury hotels across the country on 21st April. The dreaded terrorist organisation ‘Islamic State’ (ISIS) accepted the responsibility of attack claiming the heinous act was committed in retaliation of the attack on 2 mosques in New Zealand in which more than 50 Muslims died.

About 500 people were injured and at least 38 foreigners, including 13 Indians were among the dead.

A forensic analysis by the Sri Lankan Government of human remains found at 3 churches and 3 hotels determined that 7 suicide bombers had carried out the attacks. Most sites were attacked by lone bombers, but two targeted the Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo.
In interviews, counter-terrorism experts said that such an extensively planned and coordinated attack would almost certainly have required considerable financing and expertise from a more experienced group overseas.

9 Pakistani citizens among arrested

In the case of serial bomb blasts, the Colombo Police have arrested 9 Pakistani citizens who are suspected to have provided the material for bomb-making and logistical support to the terrorists. They are being investigated.
