43% of rape cases in Gurugram (Haryana) in the last 5 years turned out to be false

Gurugram (Haryana) – An investigation has revealed that 43.6% of rape cases registered here in the last 5 years were false. The Police have taken action against a few women who filed false cases. This information has come to light under the Right to Information Act.

1. A total of 955 rape cases were registered in Gurugram from January 1st, 2020 to December 18th, 2024. Out of these, 417 cases were in ‘rape on false promise of marriage’ category.

2. Right to Information activist Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj said that the investigation revealed that in most cases, girls have falsely accused unmarried boys of rape despite having sexual relations at their own free will.

3. In 236 cases registered with Gurugram Police, the Police did not find any evidence of the allegations made by the complainant; hence, these cases were dismissed.

4. After the truth came out, action was taken against 96 women who filed false cases. They were sentenced to 6 months imprisonment and fine.

On the one hand, since rapists are not being punished severely in this country, such incidents are increasing day by day. On the other hand, there are women making false allegations. Hence, it is necessary to punish those who try to earn money through such means.
