Allegation by former Pentagon official Michael Rubin
(Note : The Pentagon is the headquarters of the US Department of Defence)

New Delhi – Former Pentagon official Michael Rubin has accused US President Donald Trump of endangering the national security of other countries in his pursuit of the Nobel Peace Prize. Rubin claimed that Trump lacks a thorough understanding of history, leans toward moral equivalency, and underestimates the national security of other nations compared to his personal ambition. He made these remarks during an interview with Asian News International (ANI).

Key points presented by Michael Rubin
1. Conflicts will worsen if moral clarity is lacking
If Donald Trump does not abandon moral equivalency and clearly recognise who is right and who is wrong—whether in the India-Pakistan conflict or Israel-Iran conflict—the situation in these regions could deteriorate significantly.
2. Is Trump privately threatening Pakistan?
Speaking about Trump’s meeting with Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir, Rubin remarked that Trump appears to be setting aside diplomatic niceties to speak bluntly. He questioned whether Trump told Munir that Pakistan’s actions could provoke a covert retaliation too intense for them to bear. Is Trump issuing private threats to Pakistan while maintaining a public image ?
3. Pakistan must pay the price if it continues supporting terrorism
Rubin warned that Pakistan is no longer an independent actor, but rather a proxy of China. China’s primary interest is ensuring the uninterrupted flow of oil from the Persian Gulf. If Pakistan continues to support terrorism, it will have to face the consequences.
4. India should ignore certain US advice for its own security
Just as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has done in the past, India must sometimes disregard advice coming from Washington and prioritise its own national security interests.
5. If Munir deceives the US, it would be suicidal
Rubin said that Washington has little patience for Pakistan’s usual rhetoric. If Pakistan thinks it can deceive the US, Asim Munir could meet the same fate as Iran’s top military commanders.
6. Pakistan is a proxy of China
About 44% of oil exiting the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz is destined for China and other parts of Asia. If ongoing conflicts disrupt this supply, it is China, not the US or Iran, that would be most harmed. Pakistan acts as China’s proxy, and it’s likely that Munir may have conveyed Chinese messages to Trump, not just the other way around.
