Karkala (Karnataka): A Muslim bus driver, reportedly the father of two, was seen behaving suspiciously with a married Hindu woman near the sacred Sringeri Math. Following complaints from residents, Bajrang Dal activists intervened and stopped the pair, subsequently informing the Sringeri police. The police have since taken both individuals into custody.
Hindu organisations have strongly condemned the incident, stating that such occurrences near a holy site tarnish its sanctity. The case is being investigated as a potential instance of “Love Jihad,” and further inquiry is ongoing at the police station. Residents and Hindutva-aligned groups are treating the matter seriously and have demanded a thorough investigation and strict action.
