In Bangladesh, Muslims loot 6 temples within 24 hours

Idols, utensils, jewellery also stolen

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – On 13 June, Muslims looted six Hindu temples in the Kotlipara region of Gopalganj district, Bangladesh. According to a report by ‘NTV News’, a Hindu woman from the area said, “A temple was looted on 12 June in Duyrepra. Today, five more temples were plundered. All items kept for worship were stolen. If this continues, we won’t be able to recover the stolen puja materials each time. Brass and bronze utensils are expensive, and we do not have the money to keep buying them repeatedly. Urgent steps must be taken to stop the looting of our valuables. I earnestly appeal to the Government. The Hindu community cannot bear this persecution anymore. How are we supposed to live? We are drawing the Government’s attention. It is their duty to arrest the criminals. We are helpless and unable to act.”

Houses of Hindus destroyed by Muslims in Netrokona district

In the Purbo Dhala region of Netrokona district, Bangladesh, Muslim mobs looted and destroyed Hindu homes. Several Hindu families of the Haridas community have been rendered homeless. Recently, Muslims demolished their homes and looted their belongings. According to a 1 June report published by ‘Somoy National’, there has been a systematic attempt to drive out Hindu families who have lived in the region for over 500 years. Now, Muslims have converted the area into property claimed by the ‘Janab Ali Markazun Noor Al- Islamiya Madrasa’.

When Hindu families lodged complaints with local Police, Muslims attacked and looted their homes in retaliation. One Hindu victim stated, “The Muslims want to open a madarasa here.” The affected Hindu families have lodged complaints with the Police. While the local administration has assured action, no arrests have been made so far.
