Ottawa (Canada) – The Mark Carney government in Canada has launched a crackdown on Khalistanis. The government has launched a campaign called ‘Project Pelican’ to catch Khalistanis involved in anti-India activities. Under this, the police have uncovered a network related to drug trafficking and Khalistani terrorism. Canadian police have seized 479 kg of cocaine. This is the largest operation in Canada so far. A total of 9 people, including 7 Indian-origin accused living in Canada, have been arrested in this case. These include Sajith Yogendraraja, Manpreet Singh, Philip Tepp, Arvinder Powar, Karamjeet Singh, Gurtej Singh, Sartaj Singh, Shiv Onkar Singh and Hao Tommy Huynh.

Use of money for anti-India activities

According to police, the arrested gang used a commercial route between the US and Canada and had links with drug traffickers in Mexico and the US. The money received from this smuggling was used for anti-India activities like protests, referendums and arms purchases. Intelligence agencies suspect that Pakistan’s ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) is supporting this gang.
