27 Naxals killed in Chhattisgarh encounter

Naxalite Basava Raju, with a bounty of Rs 1.5 crore, killed

Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh) – Security forces killed 27 Naxals in the Abujmad forest here on the morning of May 21. They recovered 20 bodies and weapons. The slain Naxals included Basava Raju, a prominent Naxalite. A reward of Rs 1.5 crore was announced for providing information about him. The encounter occurred on the border of Dantewada, Narayanpur and Bijapur Districts.

Police had informed about the ‘Karegutta Operation’ 7 days ago. Under this, 31 Naxals were killed in a 24-day operation in the Karegutta hills on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border. These include 16 women and 15 men.
