Unauthorised mosque in Nashik sealed by the Municipal Corporation

  • Success for Hindu Janasampark Karyalay and Ichhapurti Ganesh Mandal in Nashik

  • Ganesh Maha-Aarti by Hindus as 25-year-old illegal mosque issue finally resolved

  • Hindu Janasampark Karyalay vows to continue the fight against illegal constructions

Nashik, Maharashtra – Following persistent efforts by the Hindu Janasampark Karyalay and Ichhapurti Ganesh Mandal, and the united voice of local residents, the Nashik Municipal Corporation finally acted against an illegal mosque in Rajivnagar. After a notice from the civic body and police instructions, the Nurani Anjuman Trust removed the board of Nurani Sunni Masjid and locked the premises. Religious prayers held there have also been stopped. Local Hindus, angered by decades of inaction, submitted a formal complaint against the unauthorized mosque. (Editor’s Note: Why should citizens have to demand such action? Shouldn’t the administration act on its own?)

Residents from Rajivnagar, Chetananagar, and Indiranagar—who had been waiting for justice since 2000 – celebrated the development by coming together in the pouring rain to perform a grand Ganpati Aarti. They pledged to remain vigilant against unlawful activities and to alert the authorities when necessary.

“We will continue this fight until every illegal construction is removed,” declared Mr Sagar Deshmukh of the Hindu Janasampark Karyalay.

Administrative apathy exposed !

It is shameful that an illegal structure stood untouched for 25 years. Officials guilty of such dereliction must face strict punishment.
