Fanatic Muslims pelt stones at Hindus in Washim; 6 arrested

Attack with swords and sticks over a minor dispute

Washim – A minor dispute broke out among fruit vendors at Patni Chowk here at night, which turned into a big dispute, wherein 150 fanatic Muslims gathered and pelted stones at Hindus. Muslims attacked using swords, sticks and other materials. So far, 20 to 25 accused have been identified, and 6 people have been arrested. Video recordings of stone pelting incident are being investigated to identify other accused. ‘We will take strict action against those spreading rumors in the city,’ the Police said in a press conference. Stones were also thrown at the houses and vehicles of citizens, due to which 2-3 people were injured. Some people havesuffered head injuries. Two-wheelers and four-wheelers have also been damaged due to stone pelting. The Police have appealed to maintain peace.
