Distortion of Indian history by Rani Durgavati University Administration

Controversy over referring to Rani Durgavati’s ‘Samadhi-sthal’ as ‘Makbara’

(Makbara refers to a tomb built over the place where a Muslim person is buried)

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh ) – A question set in the second-year foundation course examination of Rani Durgavati University of Jabalpur describing Rani Durgavati’s history in a distorted manner, led to creating a row between university administration and students over the question. In the question paper of the second year foundation course under B.Sc., a question ‘Where Rani Durgavati’s ‘Makbara’ is located’ referring to her ‘samadhi-sthal’ led to a controversy.

1.The question created confusion amongst students; since there is Rani Durgavati’s ‘Samadhi- sthal’ and not a tomb. People felt it was an insult of Rani Durgavati’s valour, bravery and sacrifice.

2.Many social organisations and students have protested against this incident. ‘Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP)’ has called it an outcome of ignorance. ABVP has also demanded severe action against the persons responsible for such distortion of history.

Editorial Perspective

Doesn’t the administration of a university named after Rani Durgavati know her history ? Stringent action should be taken against such anti-history administrative officers and employees. Will the present-day scholars from the education field, who lack knowledge of history, be able to create history ?
