Netflix officials valuable advice for Indian filmmakers

Mumbai – Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos has urged Indian filmmakers to focus on creating content based on Indian culture while producing for any medium. Actor Saif Ali Khan interviewed Ted Sarandos at the Waves conference in Mumbai on 3rdMay. He made the above appeal while sharing information about the financial benefits Netflix has received from its investment in India. He also emphasized that content based on Indian culture is becoming more popular around the world.

Ted Sarandos further said, “In 2023-24, 3 billion hours of Indian programming were watched on Netflix worldwide. There was definitely an Indian series in the list of the top 10 best web series or web movies released every week. Netflix earned a profit of Rs 16,000 crore, or $200 million, in India between 2021 and 2024. The financial benefits to Netflix have provided employment to 20,000 people in Indian production companies. So far, series released on Netflix have been shot in 90 cities in India. This includes 150 Indian web series and web movies.”
