Case of an offensive post about Muslims

Mysuru (Karnataka) – A young man posted a morphed image of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav, and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal on social media. The post allegedly contained offensive text in Urdu. Following this, on the night of 10thFebruary, Muslims engaged in violence in the area. The Police have arrested a person named Satish in connection with the post.

After the post went viral, Muslims surrounded the Police station and demanded the arrest of the accused. A confrontation took place between the Police officials and the Muslim protesters, leading to stone-pelting by the mob. Stones were also pelted on Police vehicles. This escalated into violence, with incidents of arson reported in some places. The Police had to fire into the air to disperse the rioters. A curfew has been imposed in the area.

Conspiracy behind the riots ?

Local BJP MLA T. S. Srivatsa claimed that there is someone behind these riots. He questioned how 2,000 people could gather in such a short time and alleged that false rumours were spread that the arrested youth had been released, which incited the violence. He demanded an investigation into the forces behind the incident.
