Prayagraj (UP) – Mata Amritanandamayi’s Amrita Hospital has deployed two large state-of-the- art mobile hospitals (Mobile Medicine Units) at Kumbha Mela. These mobile units are provided by Amrita Hospital from Kochi, Kerala, and Faridabad. The mobile hospitals are staffed with a team of 13 doctors and 60 staff members. On 17 th January, a small surgical procedure was performed on a patient at this hospital located near the Amritanandamayi’s tent in Sector 7 of the Kumbha Mela area. The doctors from this team are also offering their services at the Government hospitals set up for the Maha Kumbha Mela.

What is the Mobile Medicine Unit ?

While providing more details about the Mobile Medicine Unit, its coordinator Mr Jayan explained that this state-of-the-art mobile hospital has been prepared through the experience of over 18 years in patient care. The unit is equipped with various advanced facilities, including a fully automatic medical laboratory, ECG machines, ECHO, ultrasound, X-ray facilities, nebulizer, a small surgical operating theatre, and an intensive care unit (ICU). Each mobile hospital is valued at ₹3 crore, and two such units have been arranged for the event. These buses operate on multiple energy sources, including solar power, direct electricity, and electrical generators.
